Tíortha timpeall an domhain
An tseachtain seo, bunaithe ar spéis nua na bpáistí, shocraíomar go bhfoghlaimeoimís níos mó faoi thíortha timpeall an domhain.
Ba iad Éire, an Nigéir, an Pholainn agus an Spáinn na tíortha a dír muid níos mó orthru mar go bhfuil naisc ag cuid de theaghlaigh ár bpáistí leis na tíortha seo.
Thosaíomar ár seachtain ag caint faoi na tíortha éagsúla ar fud an domhain a thaitin go mór leis na páistí, ag breathnú ar léarscáil an domhain agus ag aithint cuid de na tíortha. D’fhéachamar ar bhratacha agus léarscáileanna na hÉireann, na Nigéire, na Spáinne agus na Polainne agus d’fhoghlaimíomar roinnt fíricí tábhachtacha fúthu freisin.
Phéinteáil muid agus ghreamaíomar páipéar ar leathanach chun léarscáileanna éagsúla a dhéanamh a dhíríonn ar na tíortha a ainmníodh thuas go háirithe. Dhathaíomar pictiúir de léarscáileanna agus pictiúr a bhaineann leis na tíortha is tábhachtaí dúinn, amhail bia ón bPolainn agus pictiúr de dhamhsa traidisiúnta na Spáinne.
Bhí na páistí an-ghnóthach sa chúinne baile inár mbialann ag déanamh bia na dtíortha éagsúla.
Donár mbácáil an tseachtain seo rinneamar croissants. Thapaíomar an deis freisin chun spíosraí éagsúla a iniúchadh, amhail cumin, cilantro, curaí agus gairleog.
Thaitin damhsa leis na páistí le ceol difriúil ó gach tír freisin.
Sna seachtainí amach romhainn tá súil againn na boscaí cultúir éagsúla a dhéanamh agus cur leo. Bheimis an-bhuíoch dá mbeadh aon earraí ag aon teaghlaigh ar mhaith leo a chur leis na boscaí cultúir.

Countries around the world
This week based on the children’s emergent interest we decided that we would learn more about the countries around the world.
Ireland, Nigeria, Poland and Spain were the countries which we focused on in more detail as some of the families of our children have links with these countries.
We started off our week talking about the different countries around the world the children loved looked at the map of the world and identifying some of the countries. We looked at the flags and maps of Ireland, Nigeria, Spain and Poland and learn some important facts about them too.
We painted and stuck paper onto a page to make different maps focusing on the countries named above in particular.
We coloured pictures of maps and picture associated with the countries most important to us such as food from Poland and a picture of traditional Spanish dancing.
The children were very busy in the home corner in our restaurant making the food of the different countries.
For our baking this week we made croissants. We also took the opportunity to explore different spices such as cumin, coriander, curry and garlic.
The children loved dancing to the different music from each country too.
Over the coming weeks we hope to make and add to the different culture boxes.
